web - Why does Google Analytics match this URL as a Funnel Step? -

i have goal , funnel 5 steps defined. destination url set "equals to". in funnel have similar to:

/abcmodules/stuff/page1.aspx

/abcmodules/stuff/page2.aspx

/abcmodules/stuff/page3.aspx

/abcmodules/stuff/page4.aspx

/abcmodules/stuff/page5.aspx

when click through pages on website, goal met expected.

but let goofy 1 of pages (attempt to) cause fail goal:

/abcxxxxxxxxmodules/stuff/page2.aspx

(and save...)

when click through pages on website again, time expect goal not met because page2 not meet "equals to" requirement due x's. however, trigger goal (not expected). going on? please me understand how matching works.

thank you!!

update: not sure if important info or not, looking under real time conversions see goals match. starting suspect bug in google analytics real time because of following behavior.

i have simple 3 step funnel. first step required. however, go go web site, never first step, , go final step , matches goal in real time conversions. wth?!?! not understanding correctly probably. please help!

this expected behaviour (even if not make lt of sense). funnel steps affect funnel visualization, not completed goals.

see following example documentation (i think) covers our question:

for example, let's funnel defined /step1 > /step2 > /step3 > goal, , user navigates /step2 goal, skipping /step1 , /step3. in funnel visualization report, you'd see entrance /step 2, continuation /step 3, , continuation goal.
